Duane “Stoney” Yerkes – 50 Years of Active Service
Over the past five decades, Chief Yerkes has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the fire service and the Houston community. Throughout his tenure, he has served in numerous operational leadership roles, including Chief, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, Chief Engineer, and Safety Officer. His experience, leadership, and dedication have helped guide and strengthen the organization through many years of growth and change.

In addition to his operational service, Chief Yerkes has also held several administrative positions, serving as Vice President and Treasurer. He currently continues to serve the company as both Safety Officer and Treasurer, providing invaluable leadership, knowledge, and stewardship.

The members of the Houston Volunteer Fire Company extend their sincere gratitude and congratulations to Chief Yerkes on this remarkable milestone. His 50 years of service stand as a testament to his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the fire service tradition.
